First Annual Two-Thousand and Two Annual Christmas Fireworks Celebration FAQ

  What is this?
At its core, this event is really the 2002 Christmas Party. It's simply being held in July of 2003 because that makes more sense.

  What's going to happen?
Great question! Plan on enjoying an evening of dinner, fireworks, S'mores, games (actually, just one game), and fraternizing!

  Where is this being held?
The celebration is being held in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Dinner will be downtown at Granny Had One. An anonymous donor (Jack Logsdon) has allowed us to use part of his land for our Christmas fireworks show!

  When is this taking place?
  Saturday, July 12th.

What time do the festivities begin?
We will meet at Granny Had One at 6:00pm. After dinner, as the sun is setting, we will caravan to our secluded pasture and unload our stuff.

  How will I get there?
By car, preferably. Because Guthrie is located in BFE, we suggest utilizing a carpool. Several of us will meet in Edmond and ride together. If you are interested in joining us or forming your own group, please let me know.

Are there really going to be fireworks? Are fireworks still legal?
YES! Fireworks are the central attraction at this party. And yes, fireworks are still legal--we will be on private land out of the city limits. Here's the deal with the fireworks: Last month I found about $250 worth of fireworks I bought several years ago and forgot about. I'm not talking about Jumping Jacks and Sparklers. They are the big re-loadable tube launchers that use explosive shells and look like real fireworks. This is the kind of stuff we are going to shoot.

So where do I fit in?
I'm glad you asked. My fireworks alone won't entertain us for very long. My hope is that each of you will contribute a little to the Fireworks Show. Since this party is after the Fourth of July weekend, I encourage you to visit a fireworks stand very late on the 4th or early on the 5th and buy up some fireworks once they are marked down. The savings are substantial, and most places still have good stuff come Saturday. If you do not want to bring fireworks, please consider donating a little money ($9 or less) so we can add to the show.

  Can I bring anybody?
Absolutely! This is similar to the parties of ZAX Christmas past--we encourage you to bring your wives, girlfriends, bitches, and/or ho's. In fact, this event is a perfect opportunity for you to invite a non-greek* male individual who would make a good pledge candidate. Remember, all that is required to become a member of ZAX is an interest to join (and the purchase of a hat).

Since this is supposed to be a Christmas party, should I (we) bring a gift?
Definitely! What kind of Christmas party would this be without a Dirty Santa gift exchange? No gifts valued over $5.00, please.

I'm confused. What all should I be bringing?
Let's summarize: Fireworks, a date (optional), a pledge candidate (if possible), and a Dirty Santa gift.

That's a lot of stuff! Will I need anything else?
You may also want to bring a chair, a favorite CD, bug spray, and anything else that you think will make you comfortable in a field in the middle of nowhere.

  What should I wear?
You should wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing.

  Is this event a secret?
If it were, it would be called "No Se First Annual Two-Thousand and Two Annual Christmas Fireworks Celebration," so no, this is not secret. But thanks for asking!

  When should I RSVP?
As soon as possible! Please send me a reply indicating whether or not you will be able to attend. If you must cancel other plans in order to be able to come, please do so immediately! I was supposed to go to a funeral on the 12th, but I cancelled just for this. You can, too.

  What happens next?
Once everyone replies with a "HELL YES, WE'LL BE THERE!" I will send out follow-up emails to those who will be attending. If you have questions, you may reach me any time at the number below. See you in July!

* By greek, I am referring to an individual who is affiliated, or has some direct connection to a sanctioned fraternity. Greek does not refer to an individual's ethnic origin. As far as I know, ZAX does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national or ethnic origin, color, age, disability or veteran status. However, ZAX is not necessarily an equal opportunity fraternity.
