Official History of the Seal

The first ZAX shield (or crest, if you will) was introduced in the 1999-2000 Official Newsletter.  Created by the Blind Cajun, it paints a picture of Zeta Alpha Chi in its early stages.  The upper left section pays homage to the founding co-fathers' alma matter--the university where it all began. ZAX's diverse membership now includes members outside of the University of Oklahoma, but there will always be a tight association between ZAX and OU.  The lower-left section depicts all four of the members in 1999: Top Dawg, Blind Cajun, The Senator, and Birdman.  Together, these four charismatic individuals were at the forefront of something major in world of un-official, non-greek fraternities.  The middle-right section gives props to one of the key elements surrounding Zeta Alpha Chi: !No Se! Weekend. The lower-right section simply reveals the year it all started.

As Zeta Alpha Chi grew, it became painfully obvious that the original shield was becoming obsolete.  For starters, ZAX had experienced tremendous growth since 1997.  What began as a two-member fraternity had exploded into an 11-member fraternity (complete with at least 10 "lil' sisters") by 2004.  Therefore, graphic representations were needed to include the 7 additional members.  Not to mention, a crucial ZAX element was left out of the original shield: Post Game Pancakes.  Totally Sweet Ninja began working on a replacement on May 27th, 2004.  Within 24 hours, he had made the final revisions and received approval from the co-founders (the latter being quite a feat for Cory!).
